Great Club Championships 2008

The final events of the club championships were run on Saturday 29th November at Farnhams swimming pool.
There were way too many excellent swims to list, with PB's all over the place, county and regional qualifying times (so early in the season) but the full list of results can be found on this website under the results or calendar section
On to the Guildford open next week and then the finals of the National League on the 13th

Farnham win round 2 of their National League campaign

Farnham swimmers dominated the pool again in the second round of the National League Division 2 at Basingstoke last Saturday.
They were up against: Wey Valley, Basingstoke B, Chalfont, Maidenhead and Chicester.
The whole team was fired up resulting in a total of 9 club records falling to
• Rebecca  Fisher (1:10.48s 100 IM)
• Rob Dale (1:05.44s 100m IM)
• Jack Peters (1:23.07s 100 Breast)
• Rhys Davies (1:19.54s 100 Back)
• Lucy Peters (36.73s 50 Fly)
• Ellie Walton (1:08.20s 100 Back)
• Addy Vachon (1:08.80s 100 Fly)
• Kayleigh Copeland (1:14.86s 100 Back)
• Pippa Little-John (34.75s 50 Freestyle)
Head coach Marilyn Flook said “This was a great result, every swimmer gave 100% and the result showed the vast improvements the club has made over the last year which we hope to consolidate by gaining promotion. With 3 teams going up to Division 1 we must be favorites at the divisional finals on the 13th December”.
As Farnham had 24 first places and 12 second places out of the 50 events on the evening there was hardly a race where a Farnham swimmer was not contesting the lead.
Congratulations to Amelia Oury, Jack Peters, Alex Leonard, Lucy Peters, Ellie Walton, Addy Vachon, Kayleigh Copeland, James Butcher, Connor Price, Rosie Webster and Pippa Littlejohn who all won their events.

Great Swims at Youth Regionals

At the South East region winter champs this past weekend (1st/2nd November) at the Aldershot Garrison's 50 metre pool, results as follows:
Addy:
  • 100 FC 1ST JUNIOR, 2ND IN SENIOR EVENT, NATIONAL QUALIFYING TIME 1.00.25
  • 200 FC 3RD JUNIOR, 4TH IN SENIOR EVENT
  • 400 FC 2ND JUNIOR, 3RD IN SENIOR EVENT
  • 800 FC 2ND JUNIOR, 3RD SENIOR all these events completed with a broken finger strapped up!
Ellie Walton:
  • 200 Back Finalist, 4th JUNIOR, 5th SENIOR NATIONAL QUALIFYING TIME 2.28.04
  • 100 Back  Finalist, 7th JUNIOR
    Ellie is only 13 years of age and has a further three years as a junior
Josh Wreford:
  • 50 FC New Personal Best of 26.28 winning his heat easily and only narrowly missing final!

Farnham swimmers compete in the South East Region Winter Championships

3 of Farnhams top swimmers were in action at the South East Regions Winter Championships last weekend. This high class open event attracts the top swimmers from across the region, so qualifying alone is a major challenge. With up to 50 competitors in each event Adenais Vachon, Ellie Walton and Josh Wreford achieved a string of top 10 finishes, with Adenais getting placed in 4 events with an impressive win in the 100m Freestyle.

Rushmoor Open

arnham were well represented in the level 2 open meet Sat 25th/Sun26th October at the 50M pool (the Garrison) in Aldershot.
There was a great double win from Jack in the 400m and 800m Freestyle race, with the majority of the swims from all swimmers being personal bests with some gaining first time experiences at an open meet.
Amie, Natalie and Pippa all gained consideration times for the 2009 Regionals along with a host of PB's
Ollie swam some great races after travelling back from Plymouth for the school half term  - the 400IM is always a killer
Marcus, Joe, Hannah, Lucy, Eoghan, Rosie, Ryhs and Sam all improved their sprint and longer distance times
Zahra was coming off the bug that everyone seems to have but still managed to come close to some of her PBs

Inter-Counties - Farnham Swimmer steps up to perform

This weekendwas the inter-counties which is held at Sheffield in the National Swimming Centre there. 40 Counties compete against each other which results in an amazing atmosphere and an array of colours with all the different uniforms for each county. Adenais Vachon from Farnham SC was selected to represent Surrey and swim in the 100 Freesyle event swimming a national qualifying time of 58.93 seconds finishing 6th overall. She swam another NQT in the 50 free. Surrey ended up finishing 6th overall which is the highest they have ever achieved. A great weekend and experience but it does not stop there - Adenais is off to Enfield next weekend for the English Swimming Schools Championship - another PB on its way??

Farnham Swimming Club opened their National League campaign with a spectacular win at the Guildford Spectrum against Wey Valley, Rushmoor Royals B, West Wight, Basingstoke Bluefins B, and the Isle of Wight. The whole team swam out of their skins with 13 personal bests and 7 club records, a great achievement so early in the season. The club records and PBs went to Ellie Walton (1:09.13/100m Back/13 yrs), Jack Peters (1:16.65/100m Back/12yrs), Rhys Davies (1:20.34/100m Back/13yrs), Josh Wreford (56.17/100m Free/16yrs), Connor Price (57.24/100m Free/15yrs), Lucy Peters (46.13/50m Breast/11yrs), James Butcher (1:19.58/100m Fly/12yrs), Natalie Jones (1:08.10/100m Free) and Richard Jeffries (43.42/50m Back). Marilyn Flook, the head coach said \'I am absolutely delighted with the teams performance, they dominated the pool finishing the night over 60 points ahead of the second team. If they continue to swim this well in the next 2 rounds we stand a good chance of gaining promotion to the first division\'. Of the 50 events on the evening Farnham came first or second in 34. Addy Vachon won 4 events, Lucy Peters and Ellie Walton won 2 events with Amelia Oury, Jack Peters, Alex Leonard, Katherine Brown, Kayleigh Copeland, Connor Price, Pippa Littlejohn, Natalie Jones, and Rosie Webster all winning one. The relay teams did not disappoint either with Farnham winning 8 of the 16 events coming second in a further 5.

Farnham swim in the Rother League Final Round

There were some great performances in the Rother League Final Round with wins for:

  • Jack Peters: 50m Breast (U14) 38”72
  • Ellie Walton: 100m Backstroke (U16) 1’09”78

2nd Places for:

  • Connor Price: 50m Breast and 100m Breast (U16)
  • Zahra Bourak: 100m free 1’07”44
  • Sam Rees-Clark: 50m Breast 42”35 (U14)
  • Ellie Walton: 100m Fly 1’12”\59 (U16)
