Jane Vachon was selected to officiate in the weekends Down Syndrome European Championships, 24th/25th April

Haslemere Level 3 Open Meet

20/4/2010

FSC entered 20 swimmers for the Haslemere Level 3 Open Meet on Sunday 18th April. For many this was their first meet and thus a first chance to compete against other clubs under the watchful eye of officials. All entered 3 or more events, the maximum on the day being 6. For some this meant camping out from 7:30am until quite late in the afternoon; so well done to both swimmers, parents and special thanks to Kristie for looking after everybody. Of the girls Molly Webster took the FSC crown with 1st place in two events and 4th in a further two. Amelia and Mary Chalkley, Helena Fox, Holly Giles and Rebecca Smith all received ribbons for places in the 4th-8th spot. Of the boys Cameron Chapman claimed a 2nd and three other top eight finishes, with Thomas Eastwood, Jerome and Julian Greig, Sean Hilton, Max Jameson and George Smale also getting into the 4th-8th spot at least once. Lots of PBs were beaten; smashed in some cases and a great achievement by all.

Garrison: Friday am 23/4 and 30/4: Sharks and Junior Performance

21/4/2010

Please note that this Friday and next Friday's training at the Garrison will only be for one hour (6-7am). The Garrison need the pool for the second hour and are unable to let us use it.

The Reading Open

21/4/2010

After the counties the Reading open was the next opportunity for the club’s swimmers to be able to achieve regional times. By the end of the the end of the easter weekend the club had two additional swimmers qualifying for the SE Regional Age Group Championships; Eoghan Wiles and Gemma Lee Ross. Not content with this Adi Vachon post times which have been submitted to Surrey and the South East as records, an amazing achievement.

The Malta Trip

20/4/2010

Last year a seed of an idea was placed to go on a training camp overseas to help develop the swimmers in the club. At the beginning of April 20 swimmers headed for Malta not only for the training camp but also for the 17th Malta International Swimming Meet. The first three days were competitive followed by three days of intensive training. After successes at the counties and the Reading Open we went to Malta with optimism and excitement. For many this was their first experience of open pool competition and with more English than Mediterranean weather it was more jackets and fleeces rather than Raybans and suntan lotion. The competition included 2 Maltese clubs, Italian, Swiss and Windsor Swimming Club.By the end Farnham had amassed a fantastic 57 medals, see results below.

I think that’s it. It would not have been possible without the effort Simon Peters put in to make the trip happen and a great debt of gratitude goes to him. Thanks go to the coaches on the trip Marilyn and Rob who remained cheerful and spurred everyone despite the long days. In addition thanks goes out for everyone who support the club who were unable to go. From these results and the hardwork roll on the regional championships.
